Technology Entrepreneur Christine Souffrant Ntim named SIA-Africa Person of the Month for April 2019
Christine Souffrant Ntim, technology entrepreneur and startup ecosystem expert for emerging markets is the SIA-Africa Person of the Month for April 2019. Ms. Souffrant Ntim began her entrepreneurial journey in 2014 with Vendedy, a social network connecting people to the world's 200,000 street markets. She worked to digitize the $10 trillion dollar street market economy by creating "a stable consumer base for many people that were forced to sell their wares in tourist, traffic-heavy streets in cities around the world rife with economic challenges."
Souffrant Ntim's digital entrepreneurship began in 2013 when she quit a job in banking and moved to Dubai. During that time, she volunteered to organize and support tech entrepreneurs, and in the process became one of the most recognizable faces within the tech ecosystem in Dubai. She hosted monthly events via Startup Grind as their chapter director. Later she launched the Haiti Tech Summit, bringing together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, and digital marketers under one roof to "address humanity’s greatest issues via entrepreneurship." It was also an effort to help rebuild her native Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquakes. She is currently a partner with Global Startup Ecosystem, a board member of the AI Tech Summit and Ghana Tech Summit, among others, and co-founder of Africa Future Summit, a growing network of tech influencers which serves to teach fundamentals of frontier tech investments, startup development and ecosystem building via sessions with award winning experts.
Souffrant Ntim shares her insight on personal branding, online entrepreneurship, startup hacking, and exponential technology as a speaker at international conferences in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East. She has spoken at the United Nations, the European Union Forum, TEDx, SXSW, and more 20 other global conferences. She has also been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, AdAge 40 Under 40, Entrepreneur Magazine, Huffington Post and Haiti Changemakers 1804 List.
