Fadia worked in Yemen for six years to protect children from militia groups. She rescued children who had been abducted, raped, and forced into labor to find hope and purpose in life along with enjoyment of their human rights.
In 2017 she received the International Women of Courage Award for her work as a child protection officer in Yemen.
As Fadia received her award, she casted her vision and desire to accomplish even more.
“I want to go back to Yemen and continue doing humanitarian work in war and post-war zones,” she says. “But my focus this time will be different: how I’m going to engage more women in peace talks.”
For her courage, leadership, and role in ensuring human rights and child development in Yemen and the Middle East, we honor her as our Person of the Month for November 2020.
