SIA-AFRICA PERSON OF THE MONTH, May 2023: Ambassador Fatimah K. Mohammed
The gracious Ambassador Fatimah K. Mohammed, otherwise known as the Permanent observer of the African Union to the United Nations, former Senior Special Advisor in ECOWAS, and Founder of the LikeMinds project- non-state actors with the initiative to alleviate impoverished communities in Nigeria, her home country.
For the past 20 years, the whole world has been able to watch as Mohammed alleviates socio-economic disparities in both sectors of the social realm, whilst promoting peace- stemming from her background at her time in the University of Innsbruck. Just recently, from 1st through the 2nd of March, she was a keynote speaker and panelist for the Yale African Innovation Symposium- a conference garnered towards African youth to convene and provide solutions to ongoing African issues.
With varying university degrees from Austria, Costa Rica, Switzerland, and Nigeria, Mohammed has wielded her academic knowledge to help better the society around her- promises many make, but fail to keep.
Her accomplishments do not go unrecognized as this Eisenhower Fellow was decorated in 2017 with the Distinguished Fellow Award for her outstanding achievements.
