SIA-AFRICA PERSON OF THE MONTH, January 2023: Patricia Obo-Nai

Patricia Obo-Nai is a Ghanaian engineer who has over twenty years of experience in the telecommunications industry. She is currently the CEO of Vodafone Ghana and the first Ghanaian female CEO. She is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GHIE) and Vodafone’s executive committee. 

In May 2021, she was named among top 50 Most Influential Female Leaders in Africa within the corporate and business sphere by Leading Ladies Africa. 

As a strong advocate of encouraging more girls studying and working in the STEM industry, Mrs. Obo-Nai often mentors young females by sharing her education’s journey. She graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering. She also holds an Executive MBA and Executive Education degree from the University of Ghana and Kellogg School of Management in the U.S.; as well as an Executive Education degree from INSEAD in France.

As an humanitarian, Patricia Obo-Nai is very committed to improving the lives of women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa. Along with her team at Vodafone Ghana, she is committed to educating and empowering adolescent girls to make well-informed decisions about their health; giving emergency support for expectant mothers, and support for new mothers.

According to Mrs. Obo-Nai, Vodafone Foundation has made over US$24 million of philanthropic investment to support maternal health over the past decade, enabling 1 million women, girls and babies to receive life saving treatment, transport, medical care and health education.

SIA-Africa names Patricia Obo-Nai as its Person of the Month for January 2023, for being an advocate and leader, and empowering young girls and women in STEM.
